Japanese: ミフウズラ(三斑鶉) - ミフウズラ

A species of the family Ploceidae in the order Grui, or a general term for birds in the family Ploceidae. The barred button quail, Turnix suscitator , is about 14 cm long. It is about the same size as a sparrow, with a rounded body and at first glance resembles a quail. Both sexes are primarily yellowish brown, with white, dark brown, and black horizontal and vertical stripes on the upper side, and black horizontal stripes on the chest and sides. Females have more distinct plumage, with a black throat and upper chest. They are found in India and southern China through to Celebes.

ツル目ミフウズラ科の1種，またはミフウズラ科の鳥の総称。ミフウズラTurnix suscitator(英名barred button quail)は，全長約14cm。スズメとほぼ同大で，体つきは丸みがあり，一見ウズラに似ている。雌雄とも黄褐色を主色とし，上面には白色，濃褐色，黒色の横斑と縦斑とがあり，胸部と脇には黒色の横斑がある。この鳥は雌のほうが羽色がくっきりしていて，雌はのどから上胸部が黒い。インドおよび中国南部からセレベスまで分布する。
