Miso teeth - Misoppa
This refers to circular caries (also called ring-shaped caries) that is seen in the front teeth of baby teeth. It occurs in baby teeth shortly after they have erupted, and decay forms in a ring shape around the crown of the tooth. It is thought to be caused by enamel underdevelopment due to disorders during pregnancy or childbirth. However, since the area where it first appears is a place where food particles tend to accumulate, it is important to clean the mouth after meals and avoid selective eating to prevent this. 乳歯の前歯にみられる環状齲食(うしよく)circular caries(輪状齲食ともいう)のこと。生え出てまもない乳歯に発生し,歯冠部をとりまくように輪状に虫歯となる。原因は,妊娠や出産時の障害などによるエナメル質の形成不全などによると考えられている。しかし,初発部位は食物のかすがたまりやすいところなので,予防には食後の口腔内清掃や偏食の防止などがたいせつである。【小口 高志】
