Kin'ao New Story

Japanese: 金鰲新話 - きんごうしんわ

A collection of fantastic stories written in classical Chinese from the early Joseon Dynasty in Korea. The author is Kim Si-soo. It is widely believed that the work was written when Kim was between the ages of 31 and 36 (1466-71) and had taken up residence at Geumosan in Gyeongju. The complete set has been lost, but only five stories remain: Manpukuji Chopu-ki, The Biography of Li Sheng Gwan-gwan, The Record of Drunken Travels at the Blue Pavilion, The Record of the Southern Flame's Floating Land, and The Record of a Dragon Palace Enthronement. The Biography of Li Sheng Gwan-gwan tells the story of a student named Li Sheng who lives in Kaesong and falls in love with Choi Niang, who unfortunately dies during the Red Turban Rebellion, but is reunited with Li Sheng as a ghost and the two live together as husband and wife. The other works similarly contain many fantastical elements.

朝鮮，李朝前期の漢文伝奇小説集。作者は金時習。執筆年代は慶州の金鰲山に居を構えた31歳から36歳(1466‐71)の間という説が有力。完本は失われ，〈万福寺樗蒲記〉〈李生窺牆伝〉〈酔遊浮碧亭記〉〈南炎浮洲志〉〈竜宮赴宴録〉の5編が伝わる。〈李生窺牆伝〉は，開城に住む李生という学生が崔娘と佳縁を結び，不幸にも崔娘は紅巾の乱に死亡するが，幽霊となって李生と再会し夫婦生活を営むという話。他も同様に伝奇的要素が多い。
