Japanese: 鬱血 - うっけつ

A condition in which blood pools in the veins due to impaired venous return. Localized congestion occurs due to blood circulation disorders such as pressure from a tumor or a blood clot, causing the local area to turn dark blue (cyanosis), the temperature to drop, and the veins and capillaries to swell. Systemic congestion in and around the trunk veins is often caused by impaired function due to heart disease.

静脈の還流障害により，静脈内に血液のたまっている状態。局所的鬱血は，腫瘍(しゅよう)などによる圧迫や血栓(けっせん)などの血行障害で起こり，局部は暗青色を呈し（チアノーゼ），温度が下がり，静脈や毛細血管がふくれる。幹部静脈およびその付近に起こる全身的鬱血は，多くは心臓の疾患による機能低下によって起こる。
