…Razi (Latin name Razes) was born in Rey, Iran, and became head of hospitals there and in Baghdad, where he was celebrated as the greatest physician of his generation. His book, Kitāb al-Manṣūrī, dedicated to Mansur of the Samanid dynasty, became a classic Arabic medical book, and its Latin translation spread to Europe. He used his vast knowledge to write a large book on pathology and treatment, the Book of Inclusions, which added his own clinical experience to the theories of Greek, Indian, and Arabic scholars, and was compiled after his death into a large work of 23 volumes. …
