Yue-yi-lun (English spelling)

Japanese: 楽毅論 - がっきろん（英語表記）Yue-yi-lun

A character study on Luo Qi, a military commander of Yan during the Warring States period in China. Written by Xiahou Xuan of the Wei Dynasty of the Three Kingdoms. A small calligraphy scroll in regular script said to have been written by Wang Xizhi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty is well known. Many extant versions are variants, and the one inscribed in the Ming Dynasty's "Yu Qingzhai Calligraphy Scroll" (1596-1614) is said to be relatively good. Among the Shosoin treasures is a volume of "Luo Qi Treatise," which is thought to have been copied by Empress Komyo from a double-hooked and ink-filled scroll brought from China, and shows Wang Xizhi's lively and powerful calligraphy style.

中国，戦国時代の燕の武将，楽毅 (がくき) についての人物論。三国魏の夏侯玄の撰。東晋の王羲之 (おうぎし) が書いたと伝えられる小楷書の法帖が著名。現存のものは異本が多く，明の『余清斎法帖』 (1596～1614) に刻されているものが比較的よいといわれる。正倉院宝物中に光明皇后が中国伝来の双鉤填墨 (そうこうてんぼく) 本を臨模したとみられる『楽毅論』1巻があり，王羲之の生気に満ちた筆力の強い書風がうかがわれる。
