A district in the southeast of Hiroshima Prefecture, in the southern part of Fukuyama City. Formerly Mizunomi-cho. Located on the west bank of the Ashida River. There are various theories about the origin of the place name, including that Empress Jingu drank water here when she dispatched troops to Korea, or that water was offered to her. In the Edo period, the cotton weaving industry was thriving here, and even today there are many subcontracted weaving factories here. There is also a sake brewing industry. On the banks of the Ashida River is Takegahana Sports Park, which includes a municipal baseball field.
