Malay literature

Japanese: マレー文学 - マレーぶんがく
Malay literature
Malay literature in Malaysia. In addition to oral literature such as animal fables, humorous tales, riddles, and pantun, which were widely circulated among the common people, there were also stories told by professional storytellers. Written literature began after the introduction of Islam in the 14th century, with the adoption of Arabic script. Among the many adaptations of Indian, Arabic, Persian, and Javanese stories, the Malay history book Sujala Melayu and the heroic tale Hikayat Hang Toa are the most famous Malay classical literature. Sha'il was used for verse. Abdullah in the 19th century was the link between these classical literature and modern literature. Modern novels began in the late 1920s with the efforts of Said Shaykh (1867-1934) and others. Writers and poets from the post-World War II era include Chris Mas (22- ), Tongkat Warrant (28- ), A. Samad Syed (35- ), Arenawati (25- ), and Shahnon Ahmad (33- ).
