Tsuda University
A private women's university. A liberal arts university. It originated as the Joshi English School, founded in 1900 by Tsuda Umeko and others in Kojimachi, Tokyo. Through a Christian-based, elite education, it taught English and English literature to women. In 1904, it became a regular vocational school under the Professional School Act as the Private Joshi English School. In 1931, it moved to Kodaira-cho, Tokyo Prefecture, and in 1933 it became Tsuda English School, and in 1943 it became Tsuda College of Technology, and in 1948 it was renamed to its current name and established the Faculty of Liberal Arts. Initially it only had an English Literature Department, but in 1949 it established the Mathematics Department, and in 1969 it established the International Relations Department, and in 1996 the Mathematics Department was renamed the Information and Mathematical Sciences Department. In 1963, it established a graduate school. The headquarters is located in Kodaira, Tokyo.

私立女子大学。文科系単科大学。 1900年津田梅子らによって東京麹町に創設された女子英学塾が起源。キリスト教に基づく少数精鋭主義の教育により,女子に英語,英文学を授けた。 1904年私立女子英学塾として専門学校令による正規の専門学校となる。 1931年東京府下小平町に移転,1933年津田英学塾,1943年津田塾専門学校,1948年現校名に改称,学芸学部を置いた。当初英文学科のみであったが,1949年に数学科,1969年に国際関係学科を設置,1996年数学科を情報数理科学科に改称した。 1963年大学院を設置。本部所在地は東京都小平市。
