〘 noun 〙 When a ship encounters strong winds and waves and is in danger of being wrecked, the act of throwing some of the cargo into the sea to ensure the safety of the ship and other cargo. Also, the cargo that has been discarded. Abandoned cargo. Cargo discarded. Cargo striking. Cargo tossing.
