A type of musical instrument used for Buddhist ceremonies. It is a smaller version of the kin (kei) used in temples, and is placed on the Buddhist altar in ordinary homes. Made of copper, it is shaped like a small bowl, with a cushion placed underneath and the rim struck with a thin metal rod or wooden stick to produce sound. It is also called a kin, keisu, shokin, kanamari, or rin. The word uchinari can also refer to the larger instruments used in temples.
