A river in the eastern Deccan Peninsula of India. It originates in the southeastern part of Madhya Pradesh and flows north, then turns east, then flows roughly eastward into the Bay of Bengal. It is 900 km long. It is not suitable for navigation, and the Hirakud Dam is located in the middle reaches near Sambalpur.
