Sir Halford John Mackinder

[Died] March 6, 1947. Barkston, Dorset. British geopolitician. In 1904, he published "Geographic Pivot of History," a paper about the division and conflict between the heartland (inland region) that could only be attacked by cavalry, and the coastal regions that were threatened by attacks from the sea, but it did not attract much attention at the time. World War II proved the accuracy of his predictions, and his work began to be reevaluated among geopoliticians. He also contributed to the education of regional and world geography, and served as a member of the House of Commons from 1910 to 1922. His main work was "Democratic Ideals and Reality" (1919).
