It is a condition in which there is chronic inflammation in one part of the body, and although the symptoms are mild, this causes reactive lesions in other organs. The underlying lesions are known to be tonsillitis, dental caries, sinusitis, otitis media, cholecystitis, and appendicitis, and hemolytic streptococci are attracting attention as related bacteria. In addition to nephritis and rheumatic fever, chronic low-grade fever, rheumatoid arthritis, certain collagen diseases, and idiopathic renal bleeding are thought to be caused by focal infection in many cases.
