An extinct reptile discovered in 1965 on the grounds of the Osaka University School of Science on Mt. Matsuyama in Toyonaka, Osaka Prefecture. Its name comes from the place where it was discovered. Although it lacks a tail, it has a nearly complete skeleton and reaches a total length of 8m. It is one of the largest in the world. It has a relatively large head and a long, pointed snout that forms an isosceles triangle, and is included in this genus because it resembles Tomistoma. It was found in the upper part of the Osaka Group in the early Quaternary Period and coexisted with the oriental elephant Stegodon orientalis .
