A divine marriage tale about the god of Mt. Miwa. There was a man who visited Ikutamayorihime every night. To find out his true identity, a needle threaded with a spool of thread was quietly attached to the man's clothes, and the next morning the thread had slipped out through the keyhole. Following the trail, they arrived at a shrine on Mt. Miwa, and found out that the man was a god. As three spools of thread remained on the spool, the place was named Miwa. The Kojiki tells us that the child born became Otataneko, the ancestor of the Miwa clan, and worshiped Omononushi, the god of Mt. Miwa. This tale is based on clan tradition and is the origin of the place name Miwa. In the section on Emperor Sujin in the Nihon Shoki, the god who visited Yamatotototobimomosohime-no-mikoto reveals his true identity as a snake. → Related Articles: Tales of Proposal by Different Species | Omiwa Shrine | Omononushi-no-Kami | Legends Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
