Miniature car - miniature car

A very small model car toy. It is also called a mini car. It is one of the model cars, and has become popular worldwide as a hobby toy for collecting and enjoying. There are metal model cars, racing model cars, miniature cars, etc. Miniature cars are the most representative of model cars, and they were first created as ornaments and decorations. It is said that it has a history of over 90 years in the UK, and it is mainly made of die castings that can accurately reproduce the real thing in a reduced scale. Representative manufacturers include Denki, Corgi, Spot-on, Lesney (Matchbox), and Batch from the UK, Gama and Twiss from Germany, Rio, Mercury, and Politoy from Italy, and Solid from France, and it is said that the total number of car models from 40 European companies is over 6,000. Over 1,000 types have been introduced in Japan, and many domestic products have been available since 1959 (Showa 34).

All kinds of car models are made to look exactly like the real thing, and are loved, leading to the widespread hobby of collecting them. Miniature cars for collectors are being produced in a wide variety of models, reflecting the development of the automobile industry. In France, there is an organization for collectors called CIAM (International Automobile Miniature Club), and in Japan, organizations such as JMCC (Japan Miniature Collectors Club) were born riding the car boom. The popularity peaks among people around 13 years old, but it has a wide range of support, even among adults.

超小型の模型自動車玩具(がんぐ)。ミニカーmini carともいう。モデルカーmodel car（模型自動車）の一つで、収集して楽しむホビー玩具として世界的流行をみせている。モデルカーには、金属製モデルカー、レーシング用モデルカー、ミニチュアカーなどがあり、ミニチュアカーは模型自動車として代表的なもので、最初は置物、飾り物として発生した。イギリスではすでに90年以上の歴史をもっているというが、実物を正確に縮尺複製できるダイカストdie casting（鋳物製）がおもになっている。イギリスのデンキー、コーギー、スポットオン、レズニー（マッチボックス）、バッチ、ドイツのガマ、ツイス、イタリアのリオ、マーキュリー、ポリトーイ、フランスのソリッド社などが代表的メーカーで、ヨーロッパ40社の総車種は、約6000種以上にのぼるといわれる。日本にも約1000種以上紹介されているが、国産品も1959年（昭和34）から数多く出回っている。

　あらゆる車種が、実物とそっくりにつくられ、愛好されて、これを収集する趣味が広まった。収集家相手のミニチュアカーは、自動車工業の発達を反映して、多種多様の型が続いてつくられている。フランスには収集家のための組織CIAM（国際自動車ミニチュア・クラブ）があり、日本でもJMCC（日本ミニチュア・コレクタークラブ）などがカーブームにのって生まれた。13歳前後を頂点に、成年層にまで広い支持がある。
