A state in New England, USA. Abbreviated as Mass. or MA. The eastern part of the state is a coastal plain facing the Atlantic Ocean, with Cape Cod standing out, while the western part is hilly, an extension of the Appalachian Mountains. The Connecticut River valley runs north and south through the hills. Industries such as leather products, clothing, and precision machinery are thriving, centering around Boston.
