Accessories - akusesarii (English spelling)

A general term for accessories and attachments. Originally, it refers to accessories and parts that have a subordinate role to support the main item, such as car accessories, room accessories, audio accessories, camera accessories, and dress accessories.

The term "accessories" generally refers to clothing accessories, that is, (1) attachments, (2) ornaments, and (3) trimmings that are added to clothing, but in the narrow sense it often refers only to ornaments. (1) Clothing accessories include headwear, footwear, neckwear, and portable items, which are primarily more practical than decorative. Western clothing includes hats, veils, ties, collars, shawls, scarves, handbags, gloves, handkerchiefs, folding fans, parasols, buttons, and belts. (2) Ornaments include brooches, pins, earrings, bracelets, rings, necklaces, and hair ornaments, and many of these are more decorative than practical (hair ornaments are hair accessories). (3) Trimmings are the finishing touches to clothing itself or to hats, but also include the edging (piping and various stitches) applied to the edges of clothing. Decorative materials include ribbon decorations, feather decorations, fur, artificial flowers, beads, spangles, lace, fringes, borders, braids, buttons, zippers, etc. As mentioned above, clothing accessories have the effect of making the main function of the clothing look more complete and beautiful, thereby changing the whole outfit in various ways, and many of them have an important effect as an accent within the whole outfit.

Hair accessories are accessories attached to the hair or head, such as hair ornaments and head decorations. They include fresh flowers, artificial flowers, feathers, combs, hairpins, lace, jewels, ribbons, hair powder, lacquer, hairpins, wigs, hairpins, and headgear.

In addition to the above, there are also clothing accessories (or fashion items) that are unique to a particular era. For example, the hand and pocket mirrors that were enthusiastically loved from the 12th to 17th centuries, the perfumed gloves of Italy and Spain in the 16th century, and the patterned glasses, monocles, and pince-nez that were popular in the late 18th century. Many small items that are considered everyday items today, such as umbrellas, parasols, walking sticks, and fans, were once valuable accessories. Many clothing accessories that have almost completely disappeared in modern times, such as the patches (fake moles) that were popular in the Rococo period and the half masks of the 16th century, are just as characteristic of the style of the era as the clothes themselves.
