Mount Hodo - Hodosan

This mountain is located in the western part of Saitama Prefecture, on the border between Nagatoro Town and Minano Town in Chichibu County. It is 497 meters above sea level. It is made of Nagatoro-type crystalline schist, and there is a great view from the summit, including Nagatoro, the Chichibu Basin, Mt. Buko, and Mt. Ryokami. At the foot of the mountain is Hodosan Shrine, which enshrines the inner sanctuary at the summit. A ropeway runs from the rear of the shrine to the summit, and there is also a walking trail. It is known for its wintersweet garden on the mountain, and there is also a small animal park. It is the center of the Nagatoro Tamayodo Prefectural Natural Park.

埼玉県西部、秩父(ちちぶ)郡長瀞町(ながとろまち)と皆野町(みなのまち)の境界にある山。標高497メートル。長瀞系結晶片岩からなり、山頂からの眺望はよく、長瀞、秩父盆地、武甲(ぶこう)山、両神(りょうかみ)山などを眺めることができる。山麓(さんろく)に宝登山神社があり、山頂に奥の院を祀(まつ)る。神社裏手から山頂までロープウェーが通じ、散歩道がある。山上のロウバイ園で知られ、また小動物公園がある。県立長瀞玉淀自然公園(ながとろたまよどしぜんこうえん)の中心地である。
