Kunio Oka

Kunio Oka
1890-1971 A science historian from the Showa period.
Born on January 15, 1890. Became an assistant professor at First Higher School in 1924, but was dismissed in 1932 for communist activities. In the same year, he founded the Materialism Study Group with Tosaka Jun and Saegusa Hiroto. He was known for his research on natural dialectics and technology theory. After the war, he served as a professor at the Kamakura Academy. He passed away on May 22, 1971, at the age of 81. He was from Yamagata Prefecture. He graduated from the Tokyo Physics School (now Tokyo University of Science). His pen name was Koyama Kenkichi. His works include "History of Natural Science."

明治23年1月15日生まれ。大正13年一高助教授となり,昭和7年共産主義活動を理由に解職される。同年戸坂潤(じゅん),三枝博音(さいぐさ-ひろと)らと唯物論研究会を設立。自然弁証法および技術論の研究で知られた。戦後鎌倉アカデミアの教授をつとめる。昭和46年5月22日死去。81歳。山形県出身。東京物理学校(現東京理大)卒。筆名は小山謙吉。著作に「自然科学史」など。
