1625‐54 Dutch painter and printmaker. Born in Enkhuizen, he studied under his father, a landscape painter, and others. He joined the painters' guilds of Delft in 1646 and The Hague in 1649, then moved to Amsterdam, where he died before the age of 30. He specialized in landscape painting with livestock as the main motif.
