〘名〙 (「しょうご」とも)① いくさで、合図などに用いるたたきがねと太鼓。※続日本紀‐霊亀元年(715)正月甲申「陣二列鼓吹騎兵一。元会之日。用二鉦鼓一自レ是始矣」 〔漢書‐東方朔伝〕② 雅楽に使う打楽器の一つ。青銅または黄銅製の皿形のもので、釣枠(つりわく)につるし二本の桴(ばち)で打つ。野外舞楽用の大鉦鼓(おおしょうご)、管弦の演奏・屋内舞楽用の釣鉦鼓(つりしょうご)、行進(道楽(みちがく))用の荷鉦鼓(にないしょうご)の三種がある。通常、釣鉦鼓をさし、鼓面直径約一五センチメートル。〔十巻本和名抄(934頃)〕※梁塵秘抄(1179頃)二「稲子磨(いなごまろ)賞(め)で拍子(ほうし)付く、さて蟋蟀は、鉦この鉦このよき上手」③ 仏家で、勤行のときなどに打ちならす円形青銅製のたたきがね。台や首につるしたり、台座に乗せたりして用いる。※今昔(1120頃か)一二「其の南に大皷・鉦皷各二を㽵(かざ)り立て」
