It is a Hebrew word meaning "to dwell" or "to abide," but is used in Judaism, especially in rabbinic documents, as a predicate to express the presence of God. According to the rabbinic belief, Shekinah is found in any place or person in this secular world that God has consecrated. Therefore, Shekinah is found not only in a single location such as Mount Sinai, where God appeared to Moses, but also in the chosen people of Israel and in individuals who carry out God's will.
