Menelaos

Menelaos
Hero of Greek mythology. Son of Mycenae's king Atreus and Aerope. After Atreus was murdered by Aegisthus, he fled to Sparta with his brother Agamemnon, where he married the beautiful Helen, daughter of King Tyndareus, and succeeded his father-in-law as king. However, while he was away on the island of Crete for the funeral of his maternal grandfather Catreus, Paris, a Trojan prince staying as a guest at his court, kidnapped Helen along with his treasures. This led to the plot to invade Troy with Agamemnon, who had married Helen's sister Clytemnestra and become king of Mycenae, as commander-in-chief. During the Trojan War, Menelaus fought bravely with Agamemnon, achieving many great feats, and even fought a decisive duel with Paris, wounding his sworn enemy and bringing victory to the Greeks. However, the Trojan archer Pandarus, persuaded by Athena, broke the truce and wounded Menelaus with an arrow, which restarted the fighting. After the fall of Troy, he went to the palace of Deiphobus, the Trojan prince who had become Helen's husband after Paris' death in battle, killed him, and took Helen back. He also tried to kill her, but could not resist her charms, and they made up, and after eight years, he returned to Sparta. After that, he and Helen ruled the country for many years in prosperity and happiness, and in the end, both were granted the privilege of enjoying immortality in the Elysian paradise.
