A city in the north of Oita Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1967. The southern part is plateau and hills, and the northern part is part of the Nakatsu Plain facing the Suo-Nada Sea. The Nippō Main Line and the Higashi-Kyushu Expressway run through the city, and the main urban areas are Usa, a town in front of the shrine, Nagasu, a port town at the mouth of the Yakkan River, Ekisen, a transportation hub along National Route 10, and Yokkaichi, which developed as a market town. Since being designated a technopolis region in the 1980s, advanced technology industries have been moving in. Usa rice is known for its high quality, and it is still the largest grain-producing area in the prefecture. Vegetables, strawberries, and mandarin oranges are also cultivated. There is the Usa Fudoki-no-Oka History and Folklore Museum and Shibahara Zenkoji Temple. In March 2005, Innai Town and Ajimu Town of Usa County were incorporated. 439.05 km 2 . 59,008 people (2010). 大分県北部の市。1967年市制。南部は台地と丘陵地,北部は周防灘(すおうなだ)に面する中津平野の一部。日豊本線,東九州自動車道が通じ,主要市街は宇佐神宮の鳥居前町宇佐,駅館(やっかん)川河口の港町長洲,国道10号線に沿う交通要地駅川(えきせん),市場町として発展した四日市に発達。80年代のテクノポリス地域指定以降,先端技術産業が進出。宇佐米は良質で知られ,現在も県下一の穀倉地帯を形成する。野菜,イチゴ,ミカン栽培も盛ん。宇佐風土記の丘歴史民俗資料館,芝原善光寺がある。2005年3月宇佐郡院内町,安心院町を編入。439.05km2。5万9008人(2010)。
