...Due to the separation of Shinto and Buddhism and the policy of Shinto as the national religion during the Meiji Restoration, the imperial tombs were separated from the temple and the protection of the imperial family weakened, but even now, the statues and memorial tablets of the successive emperors and empresses starting with Emperor Shijo are enshrined in the Reimeiden Hall within the temple, and the personal Buddhas of the emperors and empresses are enshrined in the Kaiedo Hall. In addition, within the mountain are many sub-temples, including Unryu-in, where the three emperors Go-Kogon, Go-En'yu, and Go-Komatsu were devoted, Imakumano Kannon-ji, famous as the 15th temple of the Thirty-Three Kannon Temples of the Western Provinces, Kaiko-ji, Zenno-ji, Shin-Zenko-ji, Hiden-in, and Sokujo-in.
