Tortilla

Japanese: トルティリャ
Tortilla
In Spain, it refers to the so-called Spanish omelette. It is a simple home-cooked dish made by mixing fried potatoes and onions with beaten eggs. This omelette or cutlet sandwiched between a large round piece of bread is the most common picnic lunch. In Mexico and Central America, it refers to a disk-shaped bread made from corn flour, a traditional Mesoamerican staple. In the past, it was made and baked at home, but nowadays it is bought ready-made. People often tear off the tortilla and use it to bring the food to their mouths. Tacos are a dish where various ingredients are sandwiched between this tortilla and eaten with spicy sauce.
