Year of death: 8 June 1531 (21 July 1531) Year of birth: Bunmei 16 (1484) A military commander in the Muromachi period and Kanrei of the Muromachi Shogunate. Commonly known as Rokuro. Junior Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Civil Affairs. Ukyo no daifu. Musashi no Kami. Buddhist name Doei, Tsunekan. Buddhist name Matsugaku. Son of Masaharu. In the dispute between Sumiyuki and Sumimoto over the succession of Hosokawa Masamoto, he sided with Sumimoto and killed Sumiyuki in August 1507. However, in April of the following year, he allied himself with local lords such as Itami Motosuke and Naito Sadamasa and banished Sumimoto to Omi. In the same month, together with Ouchi Yoshioki of Suo (Yamaguchi Prefecture), he welcomed the former Shogun Ashikaga Yoshitada (Yoshinari) to Sakai, and when Yoshitada returned to the position of Shogun, he was appointed Ukyo no daifu and Kanrei, and supported him together with Sakyo no daifu Yoshioki. When Yoshioki returned to Japan in 1512, he allowed Miyoshi Yukinaga, who supported Sumimoto, to enter Kyoto temporarily, but later recaptured it. In 1521, he deposed Shogun Yoshitane and supported Yoshiharu, the son of the previous Shogun Ashikaga Yoshizumi. However, in 1526, due to slanderous accusations by Hosokawa Tadanobu, Kozai Motomori was killed, which led to Motomori's brother Hatano Tanemichi and Yanagimoto Kenji raising an army, and Miyoshi Katsunaga and Masanaga landing in Sakai from Awa Province. Then, Yukinaga's grandson Motonaga landed in Sakai with Ashikaga Yoshitsuna and Hosokawa Harumoto (the son of Sumimoto), and Takakuni's government collapsed. In June 1531, he was defeated by Miyoshi Motonaga at Tennoji in Settsu Province and fled to a merchant's house in Amagasaki, but was captured and committed suicide.
