Insurance medical care

Japanese:
Insurance medical care
Medical care provided under the medical insurance system. In 1961, universal health insurance was established, and most medical care in Japan is provided under the medical insurance system. The initial benefit rates were 100% for the health insurance policyholder, and 50% for his/her family and the national health insurance. In 1973, the Elderly Welfare Law was amended to provide free medical care for the elderly, and the Health Insurance Law was amended to provide 70% of medical care for dependents, and a high-cost medical care payment system was established to pay amounts exceeding a certain amount. In February 1983, the Health Care for the Elderly Law (Elderly Medical Care) was implemented, abolishing the previous free medical care system for the elderly. Elderly people aged 70 or older and so-called bedridden elderly people aged 65 to 70 years old were made eligible for medical care benefits from municipalities under the provisions of the law, and they were required to pay a fixed amount of copayment (400 yen per month for outpatient care, 300 yen per day for hospitalization, limited to 2 months), and were systematically classified as younger people.
