A brown, glossy paper made mainly from kraft pulp. It is usually made on a Yankee machine and is used for light packaging, envelopes, etc. It is also called Patron paper. The word is said to have originated from the German word Patronenpapier (cartridge paper). It is finished in three shaku x four shaku (909 mm x 1212 mm) and was produced until before World War II. It is rarely produced today, having been replaced by glossy kraft paper and ribbed kraft paper.
