Woolen yarn

It refers to wool yarn spun mainly from wool raw materials that are relatively short in length, such as staple fibers, noil, waste wool, ripped wool (loose wool that has been loosened and turned into fibers in order to recycle unused wool and woolen fabrics), regenerated wool, and cotton. Wool spinning is divided into two types, worsted and worsted, depending on the spinning method used. Compared to worsted yarn, woolen yarn has poor parallelism of the fibers and is more freely arranged, and although it has a lot of fluff and looks rough and hard, it is characterized by its flexibility and warmth, and is supplied as the raw yarn for woolen fabrics. Even today, a mule spinning machine is used for spinning for special purposes.

羊毛原料のうち、比較的、毛足の短い短繊維、ノイル、屑(くず)毛、反(はん)毛（不用となった毛糸・毛織物を再生するために、ときほぐし、繊維の状態にしたもの）、再生毛、綿花などをおもな原料として紡績した毛糸をいう。毛紡績するには、精紡の方法により紡毛と梳毛(そもう)とに分けられるが、紡毛糸は梳毛糸に比べて繊維の並行度が悪く、その配列が自由であり、毛羽が多く粗硬にみえるが、柔軟で暖かいのが特徴であり、紡毛織物の原料糸に供給される。紡績方法は、現在でも特殊な用途にあてるものについては、ミュール精紡機を使用している。
