Radioactive decay

The phenomenon in which a radioactive nuclide spontaneously emits particles or electromagnetic waves and changes into another nuclide. There are many types of radioactive decay, but when classified according to the type of radiation emitted during the decay, they can be broadly divided into alpha decay, beta decay, orbital electron capture, nuclear isomer transition, spontaneous fission, delayed neutron emission, etc. [See other terms] Nuclear decay

放射性核種が自発的に粒子や電磁波を放出してほかの核種にかわる現象．放射性崩壊には多くの形式があるが，崩壊に伴って放出される放射線の種類に従って分類すると，α崩壊，β崩壊，軌道電子捕獲，核異性体転移，自発核分裂，遅延中性子放出などに大別することができる．[別用語参照]核崩壊
