Isshiki-shi

The family was a shugo family of the Ashikaga clan. It began when Yasuuji Ashikaga's son, Kinfuku, made Isshiki, Kiranosho, Mikawa Province (Isshikicho area, Nishio City, Aichi Prefecture) his main territory. Noriuji, Kinfuku's son, followed Takauji Ashikaga and acted as the Chinzei Kanrei (Kyushu Tandai). Since Norimitsu, they were the shugo of Wakasa and Mikawa, and since Akinori, they were often appointed as the head of the samurai office (shoshi), and were respected as a family of one of the four offices. Mitsunori also served as the shugo of Tango due to his military achievements in the Meitoku Rebellion (1391). Yoshitsura was defeated by Shogun Ashikaga Yoshinori, but his nephew Norichika became the guardian of Ise and Tango, and Yoshitsura's son Yoshinao succeeded him. During the Sengoku period, the Isshiki clan gradually declined, and finally Tango Miyatsujo Yoshitoshi and his uncle Yoshikiyo were destroyed by Oda Nobunaga's vassal Hosokawa Tadaoki. However, Isshiki Fujinaga, a branch family, served Ashikaga Yoshiaki, Oda Nobunaga, and Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and several of their descendants became vassals of the shogunate.

足利(あしかが)一門の守護家。足利泰氏(やすうじ)の子公深(こうしん)が三河国吉良庄(きらのしょう)一色（愛知県西尾市一色町地区）を本領としたのに始まる。公深の子範氏(のりうじ)は足利尊氏(たかうじ)に従い、鎮西管領(ちんぜいかんれい)（九州探題）として活動した。範光(のりみつ)以来若狭(わかさ)、三河守護、詮範(あきのり)以来しばしば侍所頭人(さむらいどころとうにん)（所司(しょし)）に任ぜられ、四職(ししき)の家柄として重んぜられた。満範(みつのり)は明徳(めいとく)の乱（1391）の戦功で丹後(たんご)守護を兼ねた。義貫(よしつら)は将軍足利義教(よしのり)に討伐されたが、甥(おい)教親(のりちか)は伊勢(いせ)、丹後守護となり、義貫の子義直がこれを継いだ。戦国時代に一色氏はしだいに衰退し、ついに丹後宮津城主義俊(よしとし)とその叔父義清(よしきよ)は織田信長の臣細川忠興(ほそかわただおき)に滅ぼされた。しかし、庶流の一色藤長(ふじなが)は足利義昭(よしあき)、織田信長、豊臣秀吉(とよとみひでよし)に仕え、さらにその子孫など数家が幕臣となった。
