Bougenrei - Bougenrei

Prime minister of the Tang Dynasty in China. His courtesy name was Qiao. He was from Linzi, Qizhou (Shandong Province). He served the Northern Dynasties for generations, was highly educated and was appointed as a Jinshi during the Sui Dynasty, but when the Tang Dynasty was established, he joined the army of Li Shimin (Taizong) and served as his right-hand man. When Taizong ascended to the throne in 626, he became the Secretary of the Central Secretariat and then the Left Secretary of the Secretariat. He was knowledgeable about politics and maintained an impartial stance, so he was praised as a wise minister along with Du Ruqi, and the reign of the Zhenguan Era was largely due to their efforts. Taizong had great confidence in him, and he was ordered to guard Chang'an during his personal campaign against Goguryeo, and after his death, he was buried with the Emperor in Taizong's Zhaoling Mausoleum.

中国、唐の宰相。字(あざな)は喬(きょう)。斉州臨淄(せいしゅうりんし)（山東省）の人。代々北朝に仕え、学殖豊かで隋(ずい)代進士にあげられたが、唐が興ると李世民（太宗）の軍門に身を投じ、その片腕として働いた。626年太宗が即位すると中書令、ついで尚書左僕射(さぼくや)となったが、政治に明るく、公平な立場を貫いたので、杜如晦(とじょかい)とともに賢相とたたえられ、貞観(じょうがん)の治(ち)は彼らの力に負うところが大きかった。太宗の信任も絶大で、高句麗(こうくり)親征中は長安の留守役を命ぜられ、死後は太宗の昭陵に陪葬された。
