〘Noun〙 In grammar, one of the personal pronouns. Used to refer to the speaker (writer) himself. Many languages have different words for the singular and plural first person. Also, as seen in the languages of the Pacific islands, many languages have two different plural forms for the first person: an exclusive form that refers only to one's own side, and an inclusive form that includes the other person's side as well. In Japanese grammar, this refers to pronouns such as "ware," "watakushi," and "boku," and is also called "self-proclaimed."
