jati (English spelling)

Japanese: jāti(英語表記)jati
jati (English spelling)

[Varna and Jati]
The word "caste" comes from the Portuguese word "kasta" (originating from the Latin "castus"), which means "family lineage" or "bloodline." In India, caste groups are called "jati," which means "(a group of people of the same birth)." Meanwhile, in Japan, caste is often understood to mean the four ancient Indian surnames: the Brahmin priestly class, the Kshatriya royal and warrior class, the Vaishya commoner (agricultural and commercial) class, and the Shudra slave class.
