Henry VII - Henry
King of England (reigned 1485-1509). Born of the House of Lancaster. He ascended to the throne after defeating Richard III in the Wars of the Roses. He became the founder of the Tudor dynasty. He married the daughter of Edward IV of the House of York. He dismantled feudal vassals, weakened the power of the nobility, strengthened royal authority, encouraged commerce and industry, consolidated finances, and created the foundation for an absolutist state.
