Inns of Court

Japanese: インズ･オブ･コート（英語表記）Inns of Court

In the UK, a private legal association that has the exclusive right to award qualifications to barristers who can appear in higher courts and engage in argument activities, is also translated as the Institute of Law. There are four independent and equal Inns (Lincoln's Inn, the Inner Temple, the Middle Temple, and Gray's Inn), each run by its own senior members. Anyone who wishes to become a barrister must belong to one of them, dine a certain number of times, and pass a qualifying examination, but even after qualification, he or she must belong to that Inn and be under a certain degree of supervision.

イギリスで，上位の裁判所に出廷し弁論活動をなしうる法廷弁護士barristerの資格付与権を独占している私的な法曹団体で，法曹学院とも訳されている。互いに独立かつ対等の四つのイン(リンカンズ･イン，イナー･テンプル，ミドル･テンプル，グレーズ･イン)があり，それぞれ自らの古参のメンバーにより運営されている。法廷弁護士になろうとする者は，そのいずれかに所属し，一定回数会食し，資格試験に合格せねばならないが，資格取得後もそのインに属し一定の監督を受ける。
