Written by Ogyu Sorai. 1 volume. Completed in 1717. Consists of 25 articles and can be considered a concise overview of Sorai's philosophy. It describes the way of the sage from the perspectives of benevolence, character, heavenly principles, poetry, and rites and music, and rejects the theories of Zisi, Mencius, Song Confucians, and Ito Jinsai, and asserts a restorationist viewpoint that uses classical literary texts to understand ancient words as they are.
