Also known as direct from producers. A form of trading in which a small group of producers and a consumer group present a supply and demand plan to each other and then conclude a contract based on that plan. It began when farmers held morning markets in housing complexes to sell vegetables and fruit directly, and there are three forms of direct from producers: (1) A consumer group directly connects with the main producing area for a certain specialty product. (2) A consumer group contracts with a nearby agricultural cooperative for a wide range of fresh food products. (3) A farmer group and a consumer group are directly connected through the agricultural cooperative's collection and distribution center. Also, although it deviates from the original definition of direct from producers, truck transport companies offer a direct from producer service that connects agricultural and fishing cooperatives with consumers for a limited number of products.

産直とも略称される。生産者の小グループと消費者団体が需給計画を示し合い，それに基づいて契約を結んで行う取引形態。農家が団地で朝市を開いて野菜や果実を直売したのが始りで，次の3つの形態がある。 (1) 消費者団体がある特産品について主産地と直結する。 (2) 消費者団体が多品目の生鮮食料品を近隣の農業協同組合と契約取引をする。 (3) 農協の集配センターを通じて農民団体と消費者団体とが直結する。また本来の産直の定義からははずれるが，トラック運送業者が品目を限って農漁協と消費者を結ぶ産直便サービスを実施している。
