(2) In 1775 , Tsutaya Juzaburo published "Magaki no Hana ," a novel in the Mino half-cut vertical format with brothels glaring at each other from above and below on either side of a town street. During the Kansei period ( 1789-1801 ), the format was reduced to half a sheet of half-sized paper, but the format of brothels glaring at each other from above and below was followed and became the standard.
(3) In Edo, in addition to Yoshiwara Hosomi, there were Hosomi of the post towns of Shinagawa and Shinjuku and brothels, and as special cases, Hosomi of male homosexuals and nighthawks. There were also Kabuki Hosomi, Meibutsu Hosomi, Kyoka Hosomi, and Haiku Hosomi, whose contents were likened to Hosomi by the accounts of their heroines.

〘名〙① (━する) くわしく見ること。※小右記‐正暦四年（993）正月二二日「余遂不_二参上_一、仍不_二細見_一」② 地図、案内書など、詳細に見られるように作って示したもの。「五海道中細見記」③ 特に、妓楼名、遊女名、揚げ代などを細かに記した遊里の案内書。主として、江戸吉原のものをいう。※談義本・教訓続下手談義（1753）五「粋には成たそふで細見(サイケン)買て熟読するが多し」[語誌](③について) (1)大正五年（一九一六）まで出版されたが、初期の刊行は断続的で、一枚刷りの大絵図であった。享保以後は年々に刊行されて、享保一二年（一七二七）に伊勢屋版・鱗形屋版で初めて冊子仕立てで発行された。
(2)安永四年（一七七五）蔦屋重三郎が美濃半截竪型で、町筋を挟んで娼家が上下睨み合いになる新趣向の「籬(まがき)の花」を刊行し、寛政期（一七八九‐一八〇一）に判型が半紙半截に縮小されたが、上下睨み合い形式は踏襲されて定型となった。
(3)江戸では吉原細見以外に、品川・新宿の宿場や岡場所の細見、特殊なものとしては男色・夜鷹の細見がある。また、評判記の内容を細見に見立てた歌舞伎細見や名物細見、狂歌師細見・俳諧師細見などもある。
