Vörösmarty Mihály

Born: December 1, 1800, Karpolnarsnyek
[Died] November 19, 1855. Hungarian poet and playwright. A representative poet of Romanticism in the first half of the 19th century. He worked hard to enter university, where he was exposed to the worlds of Homer, Shakespeare, and Schiller. His epic poem Zalán futása (1825) became famous as a work that expressed the expectations of the people in the nationalistic climate of the time. In addition to the fairy tale Csongor és Tünde (31), he wrote many lyric poems and translations of Shakespeare.

ハンガリーの詩人，劇作家。 19世紀前半のロマン主義の代表的詩人。苦学して大学に入り，そこでホメロス，シェークスピア，シラーらの世界に触れた。叙事詩『ザラーンの逃走』 Zalán futása (1825) は，当時の民族主義的風潮のなかで，民衆の期待を代弁した作品として有名になった。おとぎ話『チョンゴルとテュンデ』 Csongor és Tünde (31) のほか，多くの抒情詩，シェークスピアの翻訳などがある。
