Gora Belukha (mountain)

Japanese: ベルーハ[山]（英語表記）Gora Belukha

It is a high mountain in the eastern part of the Katun Mountains in the Altai mountain range, on the border between the Republic of Altai and the Republic of Kazakhstan in the central-southern part of the Russian Federation. It is the highest peak in the Altai mountain range, and consists of two peaks, east and west, with the Eastern Belukha peak at 4,506m above sea level and the Western Belukha peak at 4,440m. It is covered with perpetual snow and glaciers, with a glacial area of 70 km2. The southern slope is the Bukhtarma River system, and the northern slope is the Katun River system, both of which flow into the Ob River. [Watanabe Kazuo]
