...The jota has spread to other regions outside Aragon and has produced many variations, among which those from Navarra and Valencia are well known. The alalá from Galicia and the asturianada from Asturias are representative of the lyrical folk songs of northern Spain, with their lively and often original melodies. There are also many beautiful folk songs and dances based on ancient traditions in Old and New Castile, Leon, Extremadura, and Murcia.
