Fernand Pelloutier

French journalist and labor leader. He initially participated in the labor union movement as a socialist affiliated with the Guesde faction, and in 1892 he advocated the tactic of a general strike as a legal means of revolution to replace armed revolution. However, this was not accepted by Guesde, and after a debate he moved to the anarchist camp and, using the propositions of this faction, developed his own socialist ideology that emphasized the role of the labor union movement, laying the foundations of syndicalism. From 1895 onwards, as Secretary General of the National Federation of Labor Exchanges, he led the establishment and improvement of the functions of labor exchanges around the country, expanding the organization, and contributed to the revival and development of the French labor union movement, which was on the verge of collapse in the mid-1990s.

フランスのジャーナリスト，労働運動指導者。当初ゲード派系の社会主義者として労働組合運動に参画し，1892年に武力革命に代わる合法的な革命の手段としてゼネストの戦術を提唱した。しかしゲードの受け入れるところとはならず，論争ののちにアナーキズムの陣営に移り，この派の諸命題を援用して，労働組合運動の役割を重視する独自の社会主義思想を練り上げ，サンディカリスムの基礎を築いた。95年以降は全国労働取引所連盟書記長として各地の労働取引所の設立と機能の充実を指導して組織の拡大を図り，90年代中葉，崩壊の危機にあったフランス労働組合運動の再興と発展に寄与した。
