Pregnancy diagnosis - ninshinshindan

Japanese: 妊娠診断 - にんしんしんだん

The state of having a fetus in the uterus is called pregnancy, and pregnancy is diagnosed by signs due to the presence of the fetus (definite signs) and signs that appear in the mother's body due to pregnancy (suspected signs), but it goes without saying that the former (definite signs) are of greater diagnostic value. Definite signs of pregnancy include being able to touch the fetal parts from the outside, being able to hear the fetal heartbeat, or being able to confirm the fetal skeleton by X-ray, but many of these definite signs were not confirmed until after the fifth month of pregnancy.

胎児を子宮内に保有する状態を妊娠といい，妊娠の診断は胎児の存在による徴候(確徴)と妊娠によって母体に現れる徴候(疑徴)によってなされるが，診断のための価値としては前者(確徴)のほうが大きいことはいうまでもない。　妊娠の確徴として，胎児部分を外から触れることや胎児心音を聞くことができる，あるいはX線撮影によって胎児の骨格を証明できるなどがあげられるが，これらの確徴の多くは妊娠5ヵ月以後にならないと証明されなかった。
