Payment method - Nousengata

A private group that was a vassal of the Mandokoro, the financial office of the Muromachi Shogunate, and had the function of contracting out tax collection. In 1393 (Meitoku 4), the Muromachi Shogunate confiscated the tax collection rights from the earthen storehouses and sake shops in the capital that had been held by Enryaku-ji Temple during the Kamakura period, and as a result, selected influential people from the earthen storehouses and sake shops to organize a contracting group for the payment of warehouse and sake shop duties. Many of these people were appointed from the influential earthen storehouses of the shogunate's Buddhist monks, such as Shojitsubo and Jokobo, who were in charge of managing the Shogun's family fortunes, but later lay sake shop owners such as Sawamura and Yasui were added. The income from this group was used for the expenses of the Shogunate's Mandokoro.

室町幕府の財政官庁である政所(まんどころ)の被官で、徴税請負の機能をもつ民間の集団。室町幕府は、鎌倉時代に延暦(えんりゃく)寺が保有していた洛中(らくちゅう)の土倉(どそう)・酒屋に対する徴税権を1393年（明徳4）に没収、この措置に伴い土倉・酒屋の有力者を選んで倉役・酒屋役納入のための請負集団を組織した。これには、将軍家家産の管理にあたった正実坊(しょうじつぼう)、定光坊(じょうこうぼう)など坊号をもつ法体(ほったい)の有力土倉たる公方御倉(くぼうみくら)のなかから任命された者が多かったが、のちには沢村(さわむら)、野洲井(やすい)など俗人の酒屋が加わった。ここからの収入は幕府政所の要脚（費用）に充当された。
