Hepatica
An evergreen fern of the Melastomataceae family. It grows in large colonies on the slopes of mountain streams in warm areas from Honshu to Okinawa. The leaves are 30-70 cm long and simple, with long stalks, and hang down sparsely from wire-like rhizomes. The sporangia are linear and arranged parallel to the leaf margin and mid-axis.
