Spatula squeeze - Spatula squeeze

Japanese:
Spatula squeeze - Spatula squeeze
A forging technique. A mold and metal plate are rotated, and a spatula is used to rub the metal plate and bring it into close contact with the mold. The rotating machine is very similar to a metalworking lathe, and is often a modified version of a regular lathe, known as a spinning lathe. Products are limited to rotating objects. This technique began to be used for producing washbasins around 1907, and since 1933 it has been possible to produce deep containers. The molds are made of metal or wood, and the spatulas are made of brass or steel. [Katori Tadahiko]
